Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care is a branch of medicine pertaining to the health of the spine, nervous system and musculoskeletal system. The doctor will first take a detailed history followed by a thorough neurologic, and orthopedic exam to determine the appropriate treatment. If x-rays or imaging are needed to help determine the patient pain source this can be done on-site or referred out if needed.
The patient will then get a detailed explanation of what is causing the pain and options for the diagnosis. The patient will then undergo treatment if the case is applicable. Sometimes modalities such as stretches, electrical muscle stimulation, intersegmental traction, manual/massage therapy, and ultrasound are utilized prior to the chiropractic adjustment if deemed medically necessary and appropriate for the condition. The “popping” is called a cavitation and is often heard during manual manipulations. This is simply a release of gas but isn’t necessary for positive results and any concerns please relay to the chiropractor. Many times decompression or flexion and distraction is utilized for certain conditions in correlation of other therapies. Light force adjusting techniques include drop table, flexion and distraction, Webster technique, and activator. The most important thing is RESULTS plain and simple. All techniques are explained prior to treatment and time is always left for questions or concerns.
